Before ye lies the world of PenDragn, a place of beauty and harmony. A place where humans and creatures live together in peace and where good conquers evil. PenDragn has not always been as you see it now. Long ago PenDragn was ruled by the evil underworld Lord, and his many demons as they roamed the world causing terror. The darkness was everywhere, the people saw no hope. In the beginning they tried to fight off the evil beings, but alas only to lose good men in the battles. So, as time went by the people gave up. Almost 200 years has past and life in PenDragn is stormy and dark. No sun shines upon the land only darkness and rain. The only good thing in the world are the stories that the elders of every kingdom tells amongst its people which have been passed down thru their families generation to generation. One dreary day the elders of Toran sat in the Inn getting ready to tell their stories. Just as they were about to start, the door opened and 6 men ventured in behind them you could hear the wind howling .
The men sat at the bar sipping their mead as the first elder started his story, well as the stories flowed forth you could see on the faces of everyone how they wished they had lived in those times of peace and beauty. Then the last elder began his story, the story of the Dragons and their riders who fought evil upon the lands long ago. At this the 6 men took notice and listened very closely until the elder was done. The leader of the men then asked "What ever happened to these dragons and their riders? Where are they when we are in dire need of them now?" The elder shook his aged head and replied "No one knows, they just seemed to have disappeared not long before the darkness took over PenDragn." The men talked amongst themselves for a short time, then the leader asked “Has anyone gone to see what had happened to them in all this time?" "Aye" said the elder, "but they have never returned, for the way to Drac Cove home of the dragons and riders is wrought with many dangers not of this world." The 6 men talked some more and said “OK show us the way to this Drac Cove and we shall go forth to see what has happened. We will head out on the morrow." The elders and people of Toran looked at each other. "Are you sure you men want to do this challenge?
Everyone who has tried before has never been heard from again." The leader said “Aye we will try, we need to do something. You see the ship out there my crew and I no longer can fish because of the storms and the terrible darkness. We cannot earn a living, so what else can we do, but to try and see what has happened to the Dragons?" With this said he asked for a map and had the elders show them where Drac Cove was compared to where Toran was and the best roads to travel. That night the men had no sleep thinking that this journey may be their last as mates. The next day they left for Drac Cove. The 6 brave young men set out to the last known place the dragons had been seen. Along the way they ran into many dangers, but fought with all their might. The thought of losing was not a choice for them. They must get to Drac Cove for the sake of PenDragn. The journey was long and hard but a year later they made it to Drac Cove. They walked towards the huge wooden gates and pushed them open. At the sight their hearts broke, within the city was over grown with plants of the underworld (since the darkness, no plants grew but those from the underworld). There was nothing there living in sight. The leader said, "OK let’s look around maybe we can find out what happened here."
They went in search of anything that may give a clue as to where the dragons went In the end they found nothing, but the strange thing was that they didn’t even find bones. The leader said" Let’s rest here for a day or two then we'll head back with the news." They found a dry cave to rest in, then built a fire within and bedded down for the night. Some time while they slept a dream came to each one of them. In this dream a glow appeared moving lively in the air. At first they laughed thinking it was funny, but the glow would then disappear further into the cave and come back out. They then sensed that it wanted them to follow so they got up and walked into the cave. They came upon an opening and there they saw 4 doors with carvings on them. First was the carving of a dragon, next was a dragon’s wing, the next a dragon’s claw, and last a dragon’s head. Here, as they looked upon the doors the glow spoke to them. "Behind a door is life, but bewares death awaits thee behind the rest. In these caves you need to search for the keys that will open the door you seek, look for good, look for life, and look for the fire in the dragon’s eye." With this said, the glow disappeared . At this, the men woke up looking at each other and without a word they gathered torches and went into the depths of the cave. As they walked, sure enough there were the doors. "OK" the leader said “Let’s find what we must get”. As they looked they found the rest of the caves, but nothing was found until one of their torches shined on something that shined back. Just before them was a small cave with millions of white crystals. Now they knew that from stories they'd heard, that the white crystal meant good. They smiled and went looking some more. Next they found something green in another cave. “What’s that?” they asked and their leader went forth and said "It’s a plant, believe it or not and a plant means life." They gathered the plant and the crystal up and headed towards the doors. There wasn't anything else within the caves, so they laid them both in front of each door, but nothing happened. They were getting discouraged again until the last door. The crystal glowed brighter and the dragon’s eye turned red. As this happened, the plant started growing around the door. In a moment the plant had shattered the door and within the 6 men saw a sight they couldn't believe.
There was a woman sitting on a throne like chair, she was the most beautiful woman they had ever seen. As they walked towards her they thought her to be a queen from somewhere, that had been hidden here, was this her tomb? As the torch light brightened the room her eyes opened, startled the men jumped back for fear that she may be evil. Then she whispered a few words and the white crystal floated to her hand. With this the men knew she was not evil for only good could touch a white crystal. The 6 men gathered around her giving her food and water. She nodded and looked among the men then asked “How long?" The leader of the men replied, “How long what?” "How long have I been in here?” the beautiful woman replied. “We know not, our Queen.” She smiled at the last words said to her. "I'm no queen my young men, I am SandWalker Mage of the Dragon Riders and mate to Tor Kabar Master Dragon Rider. ”What year is this?" she asked, they told her and she gasped "Oh my!! 200 years are gone". They took her out to the mouth of the cave where the fire burned brightly. She looked around and a tear fell. They asked her what had happened here. She told them that one day as Drac Cove was busy with its daily business, a sudden chill blew on them and then darkness. So fast was this, it caught even the dragons off guard. She looked towards the gate and a huge black crystal came pushing up from within PenDragn and beside it appeared a dark wizard. As the black crystal shone darkly, a shadow moved swiftly to cover her home, SandWalker had run into this cavern to safety near the white Crystal cave. She being a Mage knew that she may survive in here. She looked at the sky, at its empty void, then at Drac Cove. Shaking her head she asked if they had found anyone else. They told her no, but that there’s something very unusual about that also. “We didn't even find bones.”
She looked up at this and gazed across the valley. “Hurry, gather as many white crystals as you all can carry and follow me” she said. They did as she asked and followed her to the far side of Drac Cove. There before a huge gate, she had them place the crystals before it and layed them around Drac Cove. After this was done, she gazed deeply within her mind. She swayed to and fro mumbling some magical words. Suddenly, the darkness started to be driven back and soon the sky was blue again. The 6 men stared in wonder; she opened her eyes and smiled. "The white crystals are good and good wins over evil” she said. Just then the gate opened up and there leading people from within, was a massive man, at the sight of him SandWalker ran forth and yelled, “My beloved.” At this the men knew that he must be Tor Kabar Master Dragon Rider. Soon life was busy within Drac Cove and the men were lead into a huge hall. There they were asked to sit and to tell what has happened. As they told their story Tor Kabar’s face turned red with rage, SandWalker knowing her mate looked at him and said “Tis time that the dragons took flight my love and rid this evil from our home lands". He nodded and with a wave of his hand, a flurry of Dragon wings could be heard beyond the doors. Outside the 6 men saw thousands of dragons of many colors and men running to them. As they took to the skies the men smiled and said "This day begins”. The rest of the story goes there were great battles, but this time the people of PenDragn drove the evil back as they fought beside the dragons. The underworld is where evil dwells now, and even if some day evil should return, PenDragn will be waiting and ready to fight again as good will win over evil.
The Search
At the end of the wars the demons were driven back to the boughs of the world; a victory for good among the ruins of the dismal world of Pendragon. Cheers could be heard from all corners but so could weeping for the brave that had died. As the heads of all the kingdoms gathered to talk, a lone Dragon bellows in anguish. The Lords and Ladies looked around wondering what would cause such a noise from a dragon. As they all looked Mage Sandwalker enters the room. Tears running down her face was all anyone had to see to know what had happened. Tor Lord and Dragon Master of Drac Cove was Dead. His dragon Draco crying was last seen flying south across the waters to where no one ever knows, but it’s something dragons do when they have lost their riders. As the new days wore on, daylight slowly appeared throughout Pendragon and for the first time in hundreds of years the people of Pendragon saw sunlight. With days busy rebuilding the kingdoms and replanting of crops no one thought of one thing; Drac Cove needed a new Dragon Master and Lord. Normally when a queen dragon has her eggs, there is a search for the next riders to be brought to the hatching grounds. This happens once every 10 years. The Wizards of Dreadmore are in charge of this task and set out through the country side to find candidates for the hatchlings.
At Dreadmore the head wizards gather in the inner sanctum room to talk about what they need to find in the child that will become dragon master of Drac Cove. Master Wizard Zandor hushes the room. We now must find the child that is to be Dragon Master and Lord of Drac Cove. This will be hard to do for the child must be able to hear all dragons not just his own. What we will have to do in this case is trust the dragons for they will be able to talk to this child, so listen to the riders and their dragons for we search for a Lord among nobles and peasants. In the kingdom of Orendri a young man looks about his new home. Young Lord Sortsaka has come to live with his uncle and aunt, Lord Spirit and Lady Cute. His father gave his life to help rid the world of the darkness. As Lord Sortsaka roams the castle his thoughts are in a dream like state. Since he was a child he saw things in his mind that seemed unreal, but at the same time very real. As he has grown so have the thoughts. Even more strangely is now he felt a presence, no not a presence, more than one within his mind and there seems to be sounds now almost like talking but not. He told his father of his thoughts and feelings but he just said that he was feeling his growth. After that Sortsaka kept to himself. Weeks went by then months. Soon a year had past and still no wizard had found the new Dragon Master.
Master Wizard Zandor was getting worried for without a dragon master to lead the dragons there may be misused judgment. So Zandor decides to make a trip to Drac Cove and gather the riders and their dragons around and get the riders to communicate to him what their dragons feel. At Drac Cove Mage Sandwalker still lives, but now as the Mage of Drac Cove; no longer the Lady with her mate gone. She was told to ready the Dragons and their riders for a special visit from Zandor. She too was worried for a new hatching was due any day now. She had seen and greeted all prospects for the new dragons he had not felt that anyone of them would be fit as dragon master.
Later that day Zandor arrived and entered the east wyre. There were hundreds of dragons of all colors and sizes with their riders upon the sands. Zandor began asking the question that would find the new Dragon Master. “Please Riders, ask your dragons if they have felt or heard a person that they all have touched besides their riders.” It grew silent as the riders sent the question to their dragons and then all dragons bugled at the same time, all unfurled their wings and their eyes swirled multi-colors. Zandor was startled at this display but as he watched the riders one by one, he smiled. They all said “Yes, they know him. He is in the Kingdom Orendri.” Zandor was totally surprised at this, so off we go to Orendri for the life of Drac Cove depends on this child. Young Sortsaka was sitting in the gardens, thinking of what his uncle had said and showed him in the mines here. Suddenly his head was full of noises and imagines; he held his head trying to think of something else but the noises where so loud. Then he heard the words” Dragon Master, Dragon Master, Welcome!” Sortsaka does not know why but he looked upward. There above him were hundreds of Dragons circling Orendri. Lord Spirit came running out hearing the noise of the dragons landing nearby.” What’s happened? Why are these dragons here?” Sortsaka couldn't say a word for this was the first time he had ever seen dragons this close. They are beautiful. As before, words came rushing into his mind “Dragon Master, welcome, welcome!” All the riders had dismounted and walked towards the gates of Orendri. As they enter, the riders separated and there walked Zandor. Lord Spirit saw the master wizard and runs towards him, bowing. “ Greeting Zandor, what brings you here?” Zandor looks around ignoring Lord Spirits greeting, then he sees Sortsaka. “Who is this Lord Spirit we have not met before?” Lord Spirit say, “ This is my nephew. His father, my brother, died during the wars. Their kingdom was destroyed, so we have taken him in. Zandor moves closer and studies the young Sortsaka. “Greetings M'Lord and DragonMaster of Drac Cove.” Sortsakas mouth dropped as did Lord Spirits. “What is this? He, a Dragon Master? You must be mistaken!”
“Nay, look about you Lord Spirit. Hundreds of Dragons have deeded him as their New Dragon Master. “ Lord Spirit looks around and then the sound of hundreds of bugles from the Dragons let loose. At this the dragons, their riders and Zandor bow before the new Dragon Master and Lord of Drac Cove, Dragon Master Sortsaka.
